It's a two hour train ride into Paris from London and we had a delightful train ride from Eastbourne up to London's St. Pancras/Kings Cross Station before heading back to Paris to pick up the boyo for his month with us. We went to Harrod's and strolled around the Narcissistic Parade of Homes, I mean, the lovely shopping and art areas. There's a refrigerator decorated by Dolce & Gabbanna for crying out loud! It would fit right in at the Louvre if that were still a functioning castle.
We spent time in the Godiva Chocolate Cafe and then went to lunch at a great Indian restaurant nearby. Trying to re-live our past, we also visited "Founders Arm" pub, which has a great view of the London skyline. But the skyline was so changed and the pub was so terribly crowded, that we left fairly quickly. There are construction cranes everywhere in the skyline and the "Gherkin" building is now no longer visible behind other buildings. You can't go home again......
We stayed out at the Gatwick airport and took the train to the Hampton Inn that's in the airport. That part did feel like home, as we were there only a month earlier:)
