Poppy's 80th!

Did a quick trip out to visit family and to celebrate the 80th birthday of an amazing man, my father in law, Robert Booth.  He goes by Poppy in the family and he has the most incredible stories.  It's always a curiosity to know what's embellished, what's real and what other people who were there remember differently from him.  The movie "Big Fish" was Richard's way of describing his father to me.

He lived in a fantastic time, between Memphis and New York City as a banker in the 60's and 70's.  He described meeting numerous celebrities, from Lyndon Johnson to Alfred Hitchcock to Francis Ford Coppola.  An amazing life lived in an amazing time, he always occurs as blessed.  And he feels blessed for the life he's lived.

We had a big family dinner at home, which is what he wanted, and told Poppy stories to Poppy all night long.  I'm clear story telling is a southern tradition and it's one of the ones I actually like.
